Vincent All Wheel Drive System (VAS)
Conventional All Wheel Drive and Four Wheel Drive systems
require the use of front and rear axles. This means the engine has to
be mounted above or in front of the front wheels, which greatly reduces
the handling dynamics of the vehicle. The Vincent All Wheel Drive
System (VAS) does not require the use of any axles (or indeed any
tailshafts or differentials), so the vehicle's handling properties are
significantly improved. Having no axles also means there is much less
unsprung weight, which further improves handling and ride comfort.
The
VAS also has built-in mechanical traction control. The very act
of any wheel losing traction causes it to lose power until
traction is regained. Because there are no computers controlling the
system, power adjustment to the traction deficient wheel(s) is
instantaneous and lag-free.
The VAS can very easily be modified to be front wheel drive or rear wheel drive only, should the customer prefer it.
